Welcome to Ash Class!
Miss Diamond, Mrs Michael and Mrs Mulby are looking forward to a fun and exciting year!
Our visit to Calderstones Park and Storybarn
This half term we are looking at significant events through history. We have started to find out about the Great Fire of London. It was so much fun acting out the story and acting as people during the Great Fire.
After exploring existing products and learning new skills we designed our tent. We used straws, pipe cleaners and plastic to make a waterproof tent.
We have been exploring structures and learning new ways to build strong structures. We have tried using straws and pipe cleaners to make corners, and L brace to connect two pieces and a flange to secure tubes.
We have come back from our Easter holidays to find out about the artist, Andy Warhol. We have learnt all about primary and secondary colours. We explored mixing colours and using different sized paint brushes.
We had an eggciting time watching the Easter Bonnet Parade today!
Today we had so much fun! We decorated biscuits to make them look like chicks, we visited the cafe to eat hot cross buns, we played pin the tail on the bunny and egg and spoon. Some of us even won Easter eggs on the tombola!!
We had an amazing time taking part in a science show. The scientist performed lots of different experiments and we were allowed to help.
We have been designing and making a healthy snack for the Queen’s afternoon tea. After deciding on an egg sandwich we made our yummy sandwiches. Once we had enjoyed our sandwiches we though about what we enjoyed and what we did well.
We have been very busy settling into our new class. We have been reading stories, finding out about animals, counting numbers to 20 and lots of other activities.
Last week we really enjoyed maths day. We explored number, shapes and patterns. It was so much fun!
We have been making sensory animals during design technology. We designed our animals, drew around a template, cut it out and decorated it. It was so much fun!
We have been finding out about addition using part whole models. We can pick two numbers and place each one on a part plate. Then we add both numbers together to make a whole number. We are beginning to use the addition symbol to make calculations.
English - Dogger
We have been reading a story about Dave and his toy dog called Dogger. Dave lost his precious little dog and felt very upset. Dave and his family searched and searched for Dogger until they eventually found him on the toy stall. We acted out searching for Dogger and how we felt once we found him.
We love to climb and play on the large play equipment in our playgroud. It's so much fun and it helps us to keep fit.
Today we had our first gym lesson with a gym coach. We had so much fun balancing, jumping and using all the different PE equipment.
Today we had our first session of Forest School. We had muddy feet and dirty hands but we really enjoyed it. We used different tools to dig holes and built a huge den using crates and material. All the pretty autumnal leaves made beautiful autumn crowns.
Christmas preparation day
We had a magical day preparing our classroom for Christmas! We decorated our class Christmas tree, we made sparking snowflakes and we made patterns with paper chains.
Christmas party day!!!!
We had a brilliant time at our class Christmas party. We listened to Christmas music, played games, danced, had party food and made Christmas moving puppets.
We had a great time celebrating Christmas.......we even met the man himself, Santa!
We went back in time to spend the day as children in Victorian times. We dressed up, wrote on chalk boards and we even had Victorian names!
St Francis De Sales Feast Day
Today we celebrated the feast of St Francis De Sales. He loved to learn and read books so we have been sharing books with friends and making book marks.
