What the Ladybird heard

This week we are reading 'What the Ladybird heard'. We have loved exploring the gardens outside using our binoculars to hunt for minibeasts.

Easter

The Ugly Duckling

We have been learning all about ducklings and reading our key text 'The Ugly Duckling'.

We have enjoyed painting chicks and ducklings and using feathers and googly eyes in the creative area.

We are looking forward to our trip to the farm to go and see some real chicks!

World book day 

Whatever next 

This week we are exploring space and focusing on the story ‘whatever next’. The children have enjoyed blasting off into space and using their telescopes to look out for baby bear on his adventure.

Snow day 

Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs 

Fossils 
Today the children became palaeontologists, we used shovels to dig up dinosaur fossils that were hidden in the sand tray, we then used brushes to brush off the sand to reveal the different sized dinosaur bones. 
Frozen dinosaur eggs 

The children discovered frozen eggs outside, we used tools and water to melt the ice to reveal the hidden dinosaurs. 

THE DINSOAURS HAVE ESCAPED!
The children had lots of fun looking around the garden in search of the hidden dinosaurs. Well done children you found all 12. 

Chinese New Year 

We have been celebrating Chinese New Year, this year is the year of the rabbit. We have been discussing how families prepare for their celebration. The children made Chinese lanterns to decorate our classroom. Did you know that red is known as a lucky colour in China? We also made noodles and prawn crackers, they were delicious. 

The Christmas story 

Christmas stay and craft day 

We are proud of our Nursery children today showcasing their wonderful singing and paying careful attention as they engaged with their families as part of our stay and craft session. Thank you for joining us and all of your support! 

Today we had a visit from birds of prey. Reception have been learning about nocturnal animals and key text owl babies. Nursery were very lucky to get a chance to go and hold the owls. 

Stick Man 

Our key text this week is stick man. The children have loved making their own stick man using sticks they collected from the garden. We have also painted our own stick man, putting our squiggle while you wiggle sessions into practice drawing our straight lines and circles. 

  Colour Monster

This weeks key text is the colour monster. We spent time discussing the 5 different feelings from the story. Sad,happy,calm,scared and angry. The children helped to make jars to represent each feeling and every morning placed a Pom Pom in the jar to show how they were feeling that day. 

Pudsey Day 

Today the children made delicious biscuits, using yellow icing and smarties. The children had lots of fun and looked fantastic wearing their bright colours. 

Nursery Rhyme Week

This week we are celebrating Nursery Rhymes. Today the children have had lots of fun making twinkle twinkle wands, play doh Incy wincy spiders and singing 5 little ducks using the teddies. On Wednesday we are dressing up as our favourite nursery rhyme character. We can’t wait to see your costumes. 

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

This  week the children are focusing on retelling the story of the Three Billy Goats  Gruff. The children had fun re enacting the story using blocks to make a bridge. Today we were focusing on positional language and prepositions using a goat and a troll. ( Under the bridge, on top, at the side, behind )

Pumpkin soup   

Sparklers

We had lots of fun celebrating bonfire night this week. We talked about the importance of being  safe around  fireworks . We made delicious sparklers using breadsticks , melted chocolate and sprinkles. The children were very creative and had lots of fun creating their own fire work pictures.

Visit from Father Ged  

We used the mirrors and paints to paint a self portrait. Look out for our display in nursery with our beautiful art work.

Am folosit oglinzile și vopselele pentru a picta un autoportret. Fiți atenți la afișarea noastră în grădiniță cu lucrările noastre de artă frumoase.

We have enjoyed exploring our Nursery garden finding lots of acorns and leaves. We used crayons to make prints using autumn leaves we found.

Ne-a plăcut să explorăm grădina noastră de pepinieră, găsind o mulțime de ghinde și frunze. Am folosit creioane pentru a face imprimeuri folosind frunzele de toamnă pe care le-am găsit.

Nós gostamos de explorar nosso jardim de viveiro encontrando muitas bolotas e folhas. Usamos giz de cera para fazer impressões usando folhas de outono que encontramos.

Z przyjemnością zwiedzaliśmy naszą szkółkę, znajdując wiele żołędzi i liści. Kredkami wykonaliśmy nadruki z znalezionych przez nas jesiennych liści.

Our first week in Nursery

We have loved our first week back in Nursery. We have been exploring traditional tales, this week we have been reading Goldilocks and the three bears. We have been making porridge for baby bear in the mud kitchen, creating Goldilocks house with shapes and having lots of fun outside!
